Portrait of Laura Erler

Through many years
paying dear
travelling in many countries
I went to see high mountains,
I went to see oceans,
only I didn't see,
on the step of my door
the glittering dew drop
on the wheat ear

Beauty is into the smallest things, as Rabindranath Tagore says in the poem I spiritually have made mine.

~ MY RESEARCH

My graphical and formal research is also a search inside myself,
a kind of intimate talk with nature, that attracts and to me and fascinates,
in front of which I lose myself, because it never stops to astonish to me…
A special and symbiotic relationship.

ELEGY TO INERT MATERIAL

Recently I have added to my usual shapes, stones and rocks,
new graphical studies about wood and its outstanding wefts, and shells,
which beauty and harmony leave without breath because of their shapes and colors.
I like to walk on the strand, when I can I find refuge in these places by the sea,
and I observe the shapes, the colors of the shells, corals and wood,
losing myself for hours admiring those simple things that the sea has given to me.

NOCTURNES

I am so lucky.
I can still gaze at the sky during summer nights, when the moon peeps through the trees and the flowers in the garden spread their perfume.
I am so lucky.
I can still gaze at the starry sky and taste the silence, the wind, the reflections of the moon in water, the colours of the night; because the night has her colours.
Emotions and sensations in which I am completely wrapped up.
We artists invent nothing. We are simply an instrument to sing of emotions and bring them to life.
My Nocturnes are born from the need to give a voice to emotions: water, wind, the moon, a nocturnal vision of nature. I believe that we all need to go back and meditate and listen within ourselves. There is still time to dream, observing what nature creates for us everyday.
